The Story Behind FOUR STORIES

Hello!

I’m Lauren Ramsby, a news executive who began renovating and redesigning homes while not on deadline. That is until one day, when I had an opportunity to renovate a 140 year old home.

I flipped the script, left the newsroom and began designing.

Why? Because not unlike being able to sniff out a big storyline from a small detail, I am able to see what a space could become even in a raw, perhaps faded, space. When I can envision something exceptional, I am drawn to the project. I’m off drafting the new floor plan, defining the perfect flow, sketching out the heart of the home, and with great clarity seeing just how a family and friends could gather there.

I’m also in my sweet spot when executing and manage all the pieces, parts, and little details necessary to achieve a unique and complete design.

While every design is rooted in a client’s preferences, I tend toward an elevated and textured style using rich neutral colors and natural materials while incorporating bold statement pieces. Personally, I am a collector of timeless vintage pieces, particularly furniture and artwork. And I have a fondness for midcentury style incorporating brass, chrome, marble, and wood elements in simple designs with clean lines.

Not unlike breaking big news or releasing a detailed investigation that has taken months to uncover an important story, a reveal day when a client gets to see the finished custom-made home we’ve built for them is a most satisfying moment for me.
